Names have always been "my thing" - and they've been a thing for God, too. ;) As I started writing and submitting poetry I wanted some way to acknowledge all the families that have formed, loved and supported me: LeBlanc, Allen, Robertson and King. LARKS is an acronematic pen name honoring them - ending with Snarski :)
With so many whys in life, I have found that putting my energy into asking what for has given me perspective leading to peace. A thinker by nature, it is the unexpected that grounds me here and now. A seeker by necessity, poetry, spirituality and a growth mindset have provided tools to live the present to the full.
Our mysteries are masterpieces in the making...
My primary work is seeking personal integration, working at a great marriage and raising courageous, resilient kids... but I've been a writer for as long as I can remember. While my career goals have taken a back seat to my family, I have always worked part-time in some way connected to the Catholic faith.
Since 2017, I have shared stories - mostly others', some my own - writing for the Diocese of Superior's Catholic Herald newspaper. In 2022, I began sharing reflections for Wisdom's Dwelling, a Catholic women's site. I have also put some of my poetry to song - one in collaboration with my son and more forthcoming.
In April 2023 my first works of poetry were accepted for publication!
UPDATE: I started graduate studies in Faith & Culture at the University of St. Thomas, Houston in August 2023. As I finish the certificate in Fall 2024 I am thrilled to continue as a student in UST's Master's of Fine Arts in Creative Writing with a focus on poetry.
Our stories are stars lighting someone's way...
To PROMOTE POETRY as practically and profoundly
relevant to anyone at any stage of life; and to TEACH
the PURSUIT & PRACTICE OF POETRY as paths to discover God's love in the present moment, connect with beauty in everyday life and experience the benefits of reading and writing poetry. To REDISCOVER the innumerable CATHOLIC and Christian POETS, especially from the 19th & 20th centuries, I am encountering who's inspiring poems have been a true gift to my own spiritual life and ability to integrate faith in everyday life.
Our dreams are God's desires to bless us & others through us...
